Wellness Closet Opens Its Doors at St. Vincent

St. Vincent de Paul Center Opens Wellness Closet

This month, the Community Outreach Services team at St. Vincent opened the doors of the new Wellness Closet, an initiative created to serve the everyday needs of clients. “The Wellness Closet was originally just basic clothing items, but we realized we could be doing more than that.” Explained Community Outreach Manager, Tramaine Martin.

The closet, like MSV’s food pantries, was designed with the client-choice model in mind. It is set up to look like the aisle of a store and is stocked with everything from basic clothing items like socks and under garments to hygiene products and more. The initiative aims to provide goods that promote client wellness and works to fill the needs the needs of each person holistically.

Clients can make appointments via phone or email during the week and the Community Outreach team works to make the experience as comfortable and empowering for customers as possible. “We put on relaxing music and sometimes even light a candle to make sure that customers are relaxed while they shop the closet.” Said Martin.

Responding to feedback to create the best experience possible is a top priority for Community Outreach. The entire team is dedicated to making the Wellness Closet completely client-centric and several changes have already been instituted based on client feedback. Changes like music and candles have been added to the experience based off feedback from clients and the Wellness Closet will continue to evolve as it grows to meet the needs of clients.

“So far the client feedback has been very positive. We hope to continue this trend and I’m excited to watch the Wellness Closet evolve to meet the needs of clients. This initiative was created to be entirely client focused and we hope to meet and exceed our goals.” Explained Martin.
