Thank You to the Marillac High School Alumnae Association for its Holiday Gifts!

Connecting Communities | December 2021

The St. Louise de Marillac High School has always been connected to Marillac St. Vincent Family Services through their mutual relationship with the Daughters of Charity. When the high school was founded by the Daughters of Charity and was in operation from 1967-94, it sent volunteers to Marillac St. Vincent, adopted families from the MSV community for the holidays, and hosted charity events for the kids of the community such as their Kids Carnival.

In 2016, over 20 years after the closure of the high school, the Marillac High School Alumnae of over 3,500 strong, reconnected through the inspiration of the Daughters of Charity. It created the new Coming Home Marillac High School Alumnae Association and launched its five-year fundraising effort known as “The Coming Home” Campaign.

The Alumnae Association raised over $300K to support the two Daughters of Charity Non-Profit organizations in Chicago, Marillac St. Vincent Family Services and St. Joseph Services. At Marillac St. Vincent, these funds go to support educational programs.

As they begin to plan their next phase, the alumnae association wanted to give back in a more personal way this holiday season. With the direction of MSV, it adopted all the kids in the after-school programs, nearly 90 in total, for Christmas. Through the generous support of the alumnae, the association was able to donate gifts and toys for all the kids based on their wish lists. They surpassed their goal, and all extra resources went to support Marillac St. Vincent’s Christmas Store.

There was a final wrapping party on December 14th with a few of the alumnae and MSV staff at Marillac St. Vincent. See the photo above.

The Marillac High School Alumnae Association plans to continue growing its relationship with Marillac St. Vincent Families Services through events around the Christmas Holidays, during May around the feast day of St. Louise de Marillac and with volunteer opportunities throughout the year.
