Outreach Assistant

Outreach Assistant, Letty Morales, is an advocate for equality and works hard every day to provide the best service for her clients. She plays an essential role on the Community Outreach Services team and we can't wait for you to get to know here better!

What is your role at MSV?

My role at Marillac is Outreach Assistant in the Community Outreach Services department.

Where are you from originally?

I was born in this beautiful city of Chicago.

What would the autobiography of your life be called?

The autobiography of my life would be called "My Fight for Equality of All".

Can you describe the work you’re doing at MSV?

I do Ceda/Liheap applications, which is the assistance with light and gas bills as well as the UBR water bill assistance.

How did you get into your field of work?

Honestly I saw an ad on Indeed and decided why not try it out. I was a little nervous never having had worked in this field.

Which MSV core value do you think is most important?

The core value I think stands out for me that I relate to is advocacy.

Please tell us about a time you embodied the core value you chose.

In doing the Ceda applications I think the seniors have it the hardest, because in the sense of providing us with documents sometimes they might be sick or are not able to walk or stand for long periods of time. I have stated to my supervisor, "Well, why can't Ceda make the exception with the seniors and not ask for these steps every year to make it easier for the?" Luckily recently they listened and have made it a little more easier for the senior returning Ceda clients. Lastly, I always try to advocate for those with language barriers since I am bilingual and of Mexican Heritage, I can help out in the Spanish Language.

What is your favorite MSV memory or what are you most looking forward to about working at MSV?

Well my best memory is I once attended a Take Charge event and to see the seniors enjoying conversation, games. I am looking forward to seeing the seniors back at Marillac once it is permitted.

What do you like to do for fun?

For fun I like to go dancing, bowling, family game night, and watch sports. I'm a true South Sider and love the White Sox.

What is one thing everyone should know about MSV?

We are there to give a helping hand no matter your background.
