Another Successful Christmas Store – Thanks to YOU!
Connecting Communities | December 2021
The Christmas Store is a 60+ year tradition mainly serving the communities supported by our Marillac Social Center in East Garfield Park. We have been so fortunate and are extremely grateful for the donations and thousands of toys received over the years for the children in our programs.
Traditionally, the Christmas Store is hosted in the gym at our Foglia Family and Youth Center, but this is the second year of our Drive-Thru Store since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On Saturday, Dec. 18th, in just three hours between 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., over 250 families enrolled in our programs drove up to receive their children’s gifts and all the trimmings for a complete holiday dinner. At Marillac St. Vincent, we know that something as simple as a gift and a meal can make all the difference for families and are proud to be able to provide that joy every year.
While we miss the joy and bustle of hosting our families in the gym as in the past, the most important thing is that – with you, our partners and donors – we still found a way to make Christmas magic happen remaining safe and healthy.
We want to thank all the generous individuals and organizations who donated funds and purchased gifts to make the Christmas Store possible again this year. Without you, the Christmas Store tradition could not happen. We are extremely grateful for all of the efforts of the Marillac St. Vincent staff and community, particularly our Operations Team and Hope Junior Staff who handle all the details big and small to make the Christmas Store a success!
