Volunteer Spotlight: Meet Eddie
Connecting Communities | May 2020
How long have you been volunteering for MSV?
I've been volunteering for almost two years at the East Garfield Park food pantry.
How did you get connected to MSV?
One day I went online and did a search trying to find ways to get involved and help out in my community. Marillac St. Vincent came up and I reached out. The rest is history.
What do you do outside of volunteering?
I’m in school to be an electrician. I’m in an apprenticeship program where you learn different crafts and skills. I have six weeks left in my current class.
What gets you out of bed in the morning?
Just knowing that I can be productive and help people is what gets me out of bed in the morning.
What is your favorite part about volunteering?
My favorite part of volunteering has to be getting to see the smiles on people’s faces.
What three words would you use to describe yourself?
I am encouraging, optimistic, and a servant.
If you could have dinner with one person in the world, who would it be?
Wow. That's an interesting question. I would have to say Barack Obama.
What is the most challenging part of volunteering?
I would say just working with different personalities. That being said, it's usually smooth sailing. The people who come to volunteer at the food pantry all share the same goal and the clients we serve are very appreciative.
What is something that everyone should know about MSV?
