Maureen Hallagan Child Advisory Council Update
Connecting Communities | September 2020
August marks the first anniversary of Marillac St. Vincent’s Chief Operating Officer, Maureen Hallagan’s, appointment to the Illinois Department of Human Services’ (IDHS) Child Care Advisory Council.
The IDHS Child Care Advisory Council is a group of invited stakeholders formed to advise the department by providing input on specific issues related to child care. This input assists in decision making around the administration of the Child Care Program.
Maureen Hallagan serves alongside prominent child welfare advocates, including Lori Baas, Executive Director of Christopher House, Maricela Garia, CEO of Gad’s Hill center, and Sylvia Puente, Executive Director of the Latino Policy Forum.
“My involvement with the Child Care Advisory Council is beneficial to MSV because we can be at the table to give input on the needs of our children and families. It also is really important to hear what is going on not only in Chicago but around Illinois.” explained Hallagan. “I have really enjoyed serving on the Council.”
While the pandemic has created significant hurdles, the Council continues to meet regularly. The next scheduled meeting of the Child Care Advisory Council is this Friday, August 21.
