About Santa Mike
In the winter of 1970, Mike Sturch, lovingly known as “Santa Mike,” began a tradition to help St. Vincent de Paul Center families have a better holiday season. For over 40 years, “Santa Mike” has been providing hundreds children of low-income working families a special gift from Santa, a Homeless Outreach Luncheon and Resource Fair for hundreds of homeless men, women and children, as well as a special holiday dinner party for over 250 isolated seniors.
Thanks to the help from generous donations to the Santa Mike Fund, Mike, his family and faithful volunteers have been able to provide holiday gifts for thousands of children in need, countless dinners for low-income seniors, sponsored staff appreciation dinners and a Thanksgiving meal for hundreds of homeless men and women.

Santa Visits the Children of St. Vincent de Paul Center
December 7, 2018 | 1:00 - 5:00 PM
In Illinois the number of families who are defined as the Working Poor continues to rise each year. In 2015 a family of four who earned $24,036 fell below the Federal Poverty Level. Families work hard and parents sacrifice every day to give their children what they need. Yet sometimes despite parents’ best efforts, they find themselves unable to do just that, and face difficult choices. Imagine, at the holidays, having to make the decision of paying rent or buying your child a gift. When “Santa Mike” Sturch began his legacy of giving 48 years ago, he wanted every child at the St. Vincent De Paul Center to know the joy of Christmas, regardless of income. The annual Santa Mike Children’s Holiday party includes a visit from Santa and a special gift for each of the 456 students in our child care and before/after school programs, from ages 3 months old through 12 years old.
Senior's Christmas Party
December 7, 2018 | 5:30 - 9:00 PM
The more social interactions seniors have, they are more likely to feel positive and less likely to feel isolated and lonely. Santa Mike & Friends support this goal with the annual Seniors’ Christmas Party. This year’s event will be held on December 7, 2018 at the St. Vincent De Paul Center. Seniors are treated to a catered sit-down dinner served by volunteers, as well as music, gifts and dancing. It’s a night to make fond memories connecting with old friends and meeting new ones!
