Edelman Serves Chicago
Edelman is the world's largest public relations firm, with thousands of talented employees connecting, informing, and creating inspiring work around the world. They recalibrate brands to broaden awareness, reframe global positions, and reconnect with core customers. As part of their role as a global business leader, Edelman disperses Community Investment Grants to local organizations and agencies. St. Vincent de Paul Center has been the proud recipient of an Edelman Community Investment Grant for the past few years.
To further their commitment to investing in local communities, Edelman recently debuted a new global volunteerism policy, granting all staff members up to eight hours of paid time off annually for company-sponsored general or skills-based volunteer work. Starting July 21st, Edelman Chicago activated the company’s first-ever Week of Service. Chicago’s 600+ employees had the ability to partake in volunteer programs with one of 12 local partner organizations throughout the Week of Service.
Projects included professional ideation sessions with pro bono clients, facilitating a field day for children, and working with clients at St. Vincent de Paul Center. On Monday morning, 10 volunteers served as classroom aides in our Early Child Development Program. Thursday, two groups of 20 volunteers spent the day at St. Vincent's. The morning shift led an arts and crafts project with four Pre-K classrooms, while the afternoon volunteers hosted an ice cream social and bingo game for senior clients.
We are thankful to have built a strong and lasting partnership with Edelman as they work to strengthen the communities around them.
