Cathy Ipema recently wrote a blog post for Edelman's website to describe why Marillac St. Vincent's is so important to her and to our community. Read part of her post below:
"Nearly 10 years ago, I was introduced to St. Vincent DePaul Center by a dear friend and became immediately enamored with its mission to provide daycare for the working poor.
Since 1915, Marillac St. Vincent Family Services – St. Vincent de Paul Center (SVDPC) has been serving the needs of Chicago’s working poor at the corner of Halsted and Webster in Chicago. Sponsored by the Daughters of Charity, SVDPC provides programs and services in the areas of child development, social services, outreach to at-risk families and individuals and services for the elderly. Their largest program is the Child Development Program where they provide care for more than 440 children, ranging in age from three months to 13 years. The program includes early childhood education programs, pre-kindergarten programs and a before/after-school/summer camp program."
