Weekly Update for April 18th
Early Childhood Development
Parishioners at Holy Family Parish of Inverness provided an Easter basket for each family in our child development program. The beautiful baskets were filled with fun surprises for the kids. We are so appreciative of Holy Family and their generosity throughout the year.
There were many activities all week for the children to celebrate the Week of the Young Child. The activities included a music concert for the children, t-shirt decorating, a petting zoo and carnival, an inflatable bounce house, bubble activities for the infants, an ice cream social where children decorated their own ice cream, and classroom activity stations set up by the children, which included face painting, bead stringing, and other activities. Latonya Johnson, one of our infant teachers, acted out “Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?.”
Pre-K went on neighborhood walking trips to the zoo, Petco and Glazed Expressions. The children did art activities and author J. Brown came to read his book and gave each child a copy to take home with him.
John Woodard, a former student of St. Vincent’s, donated an Apple IPAD to the Center. John wanted it to go to a child who could benefit from it as a way of thanking St. Vincent’s for his childhood experiences here. We had a creative writing contest for the children of classroom 3E on “how an IPAD would benefit you.” All of the children did a great job on their essay, but we chose Salvador Aragon to win the IPAD because of his effort and his thoughtfulness in his essay. Congratulations, Salvador!
