On Wednesday night, Marillac St. Vincent Family Services Community Outreach Services Manager, Katharine Slover, was given the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network of Chicago (YNPN Chicago) 2019 Nonprofit Supervisor of the Year Award. Kathy was one of four finalists in her category at the YNPN Chicago Annual Celebration and Awards after being nominated by her staff. Winners were selected by a public vote on the YNPN Chicago website. It was a well-deserved acknowledgement, highlighting the tremendous impact Kathy has had on the people of Chicago through her work at MSV.
Kathy Slover has worked in the nonprofit community for over 20 years and has led the Community Outreach Services (COS) department at MSV for the last 17 years. Kathy's COS team serves over 8,800 unique adult and senior households a year, assisting them in reaching a place a stability.
Jenny Mohan, Outreach Program Manager said of Kathy, “Kathy’s actions extend beyond the nonprofit community and into the larger Chicago community. It is because of her leadership, characteristics, and relationship building that a senior wasn’t evicted from their home; an individual had support by his side at the end of his life; a mom in a domestic violence situation secured safe housing; a senior found a community through a senior group; and more.”
Jenny added that Kathy’s leadership gives the people on her a team a seat at the table, enables them to find beauty in the positive, and commits to the Vincentian charism that drives the work at MSV. Kathy exemplifies Marillac St. Vincent’s mission in everything she does, which makes her the perfect recipient of this award and a wonderful representation of MSV’s talented and hard-working staff.
The Marillac St. Vincent Family Services Associate Board was also recognized as one of three finalists in the Nonprofit Associate Board of the Year category at the YNPN Chicago Celebration and Awards. This nomination acknowledges over a decade of continued growth and engagement from the MSV Associate Board.
