25 families walked the runway at MSV’s first annual Mommy & Me Fashion Show. Sisters, mothers, and grandmothers lead their little ones down the red carpet, smiling for photos and posing for their adoring fans (friends and family) along the way. The event took place in the Foglia Center gym, decorated with a balloon archway, photobooth, and red carpet.
MSV’s wonderful Family Support staff came up with the idea for a fashion show that the children of MSV and their parents could participate in together. Family Support Specialist Samantha Goga played a huge role in bringing this idea to fruition in helping organize sponsors and decorate the gym. “I really wanted the caregivers to feel beautiful and empowered as women, in addition to respected and appreciated as parents,” Samantha said.
When asked how the fashion show turned out, Samantha told us “I feel like it went over better than I imagined! Many of the teachers and staff pitched in to make the event magical, and they also helped make the parents feel beautiful. One mom mentioned that she’s never had her make-up professionally done before that day. Another mom informed me that her daughter had her first beauty salon experience, before the mom was even able to have that! Many of the participants really enjoyed it and have been talking all about it since then. Knowing that we were able to provide memorable experiences for so many families truly warms my heart.”
