Depaul University Interns
We are just wrapping up a great quarter with 12 DePaul University interns who have each spent 25 hours helping in the pantry. The interns have enjoyed the opportunity to work with each other and with our regular volunteers and to learn more about our clients. One intern shared his journey from not being excited to have to come to sharing how much he learned about the challenges our client’s face and how difficult it was to register the number of people and especially the families with children who come for food.
Herban Produce Partnership
We are continuing to deepen our relationship with Herban Produce. Greenhouse Manager Victoria James has stopped in at the start of a distribution to talk about their produce and she has also taken several of our volunteers and our interns on a tour of the hoop house. We are distributing lettuce and other produce grown locally in a hydroponic environment once a week.
