On Tuesday, March 11th, St. Vincent's hosted a Health and Wellness Fair for our children and families. Attendees learned about grocery shopping, nutrition, food allergies, fitness, exercise, stress management, outreach services, early intervention, oral health care, and health family connections. In addition, there was a coat give-away, gift card raffle, and build your own snack bar for the 60+ participants.
DePaul nursing students taught families about food allergies, including allergy-friendly recipes, and how to exercise as a family. Family Services interns presented on stress management tips and advised on early intervention strategies. They also gave away hand-made stress balls. Our Outreach Department provided information on Jane Addams Resource Corporation referrals and the SNAP program.
Parent and attorney Max Elliott offered her services for families with special needs children and how to attend to their issues and care. Mrs. Green's Natural Market offered coupons, as well as materials to build your own healthy snacks. The Chicago Institute of Natural Health, Flow Studios, and Advanced Spine and Sports Care were also in attendance, providing healthy and helpful information and resources to our families.
