Chicago Cares Workshops

Throughout the month of April, Chicago Cares partnered with a number of sponsoring companies to offer job skills training workshops throughout the city and suburbs. Workshops were hosted by trained corporate volunteers at various locations as a part of the new Empower to Employ program. Workshops covered a range of topics, including: cover letter and resume writing, interview skills, teamwork skills, networking, and financial literacy.

Volunteers from Accenture led a workshop on Financial Skills on Thursday, April 3rd. Attendees learned about money management and the deductions they might find on a pay stub. In addition, volunteers engaged clients in discussions about budgeting and credit scores. On Thursday, April 10th, volunteers from Accenture and Leo Burnett led a workshop on Interview Skills and Cover Letter Writing. Clients took a test to determine their skills and areas of strength. They then learned how to put those skills in into a resume as well as best practices in writing a resume and cover letter when applying for jobs.

We would like to thank Chicago Cares and the volunteers for lending their expertise to our clients on these important topics.
