Celebrating Black History Month

St. Vincent de Paul Center celebrated Black History Month during the month of February. Here are just a few of the exciting ways we recognized the heritage, culture, and contributions of African-Americans.

The Birth to Three section performed songs and skits in our front lobby. One of the teachers read an African folklore. Classrooms then danced to music by artists like Michael Jackson, as well as sang a song that acknowledged the importance of African-American inventors. We also hosted a marketplace, inviting parents and clients to sell their Black history-related items.

Classrooms also participated in creative activities throughout the month that highlighted areas such as historical facts and movements, African leaders, and inventors. Our Outreach Department created a display of famous African-Americans. In addition, our dietary staff cooked a special meal for kids and staff celebrating African-American heritage.
