Marillac St. Vincent Family Services relies on state and local government to
fund our early childhood education programs. In light of the economic recession, early childhood
education programs and child care assistance are constantly threatened with
devastating funding cuts.
On Monday, May 13, 2013, Marillac
Social Center and its Early Childhood Education program participated in
the Illinois Action for Children statewide Day of Action. In
celebration of Mother's Day, Illinois Action for Children organized the
day to honor working mothers and caregivers in the quest for
high-quality, affordable child care and early education programs in the
state of Illinois.
Children in the Early Childhood Education
program created flowers and bouquets to promote the importance of
programs like Marillac and to explain what Marillac means to them. The
children presented the bouquets to 27th Ward Alderman Walter Burnett and
State Representative Derrick Smith, when they visited Marillac Social
Center on May 13th.
You can take action by contacting your local
legislator and asking them to protect early childhood programs, giving
vulnerable children access to high-quality child care and education. To find your elected official, please click here.
