A Doula Story – A Special Viewing

For over 40 years, Project Hope has addressed the unique needs of pregnant and parenting young women ages 12-25 from Chicago’s West Side neighborhoods of predominantly Black and Brown women. The team has served over 850 women with a 100% maternal and infant survival rate, and there has not been an underweight baby in over a decade!

Loretha Weisinger was one of the first doulas in the country to work with teen mothers. During her 25 years as a Marillac St. Vincent Family Services doula, she played a critical role to meet the unique needs of teenage girls entering pregnancy and motherhood. A Doula Story shines on light on her journey and the importance of open advocacy and community.

A Doula Story is designed to spur issue-specific dialogue among doulas, healthcare workers, community organizers, birth equity advocates, educators, and parents. Click HERE for the discussion guide.
